The Colombian Colloquium is a joint student organization of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Founded nine years ago, the purpose of this organization is to create an open academic space to discuss Colombian issues. In the past we have had experts in a wide variety of fields, including political figures such as former president Cesar Gaviria, former presidential candidate and OAS ambassador, Horacio Serpa Uribe, former Bogotá mayors Antanas Mockus and Enrique Peñalosa and academic experts such as Dr. Freddy Corredor (Oil in Colombia), Dr. Sanho Tree (The War on Drugs), Dr. Maria Clemencia Ramirez (The Cocalero Social Movement) and Dr. Pilar Amaya (Health Measurements in Colombia). We have also hosted special events such as the conference on Colombian migration that took place in April 2003.
